Default OT:Pizza in London

I'm looking for a recommendation for a really top-notch Italian
restaurant in or around London that does a proper pizza; hand-tossed,
wood oven, that kind of thing.

Anyone?

'fraid not.

On a similar-ish note, if you were looking for a really top-notch /
Greek/ restaurant, I can heartily recommend Limonia in Chalk Farm,
where I had absolutely lovely Metze on Saturday evening.

Noted for the future (I love Greek food) but SWMBO wants pizza, so I
thought I'd at least try and find a proper place.

SWMBO used to work next to the Roundhouse, and used to rave about it as
well.

Loads of places do good wood-fired pizza - Strada, Zizzi etc - but
would clearly fall short of being top-notch restaurants. Napulé in
Fulham is less chain-y and does good pizza by the metre which I guess
is a novelty.

Where in London are you going to be? Plenty of really good Italian
places around.

getting a bit awkward, travelwise.

I asked around the office, and the most positive recommendation was
this place:

Don't know if Clapham Common is any use to you, mind.

Weirdly, one of the delivery places round here has a proper wood oven.
Nice pizza, but delivery/take-away only I'm afraid.

bear in mind this is a passed-on recommendation - I've not been there
myself. Does sound nice mind - the idea of ordering pizza by the metre
appeals...

Yeah, but reading through the reviews they get a *lot* of stick from a
lot of people, with the odd glowing review ... odd, that.
