Default Dunlop 207RR question

How many miles do the knowledgeable reckon I'd get from a set on my
Thunderace, given the way I ride? One of my contacts has managed to
score me a set dirt cheap.

This bike is mainly used to make swift progress on swoopy A roads, not
motorway bashing.

I've done over 2000 miles on mine and they're still ok.

Just a guess but 4.5K front and 3K rear.

That'll do me nicely. I was expecting tales of maybe 1500 a rear and
3,000 a front. I just wasn't sure.

I dunno if things have changed recently (being a trail bike owner and
all that), but my gixer would waste a front tyre in 1700 miles while
the rear lasted 2500 miles. Maybe it was an anomaly or to do with the
bikes geometry/weight distribution or the particular type of tyre
(Michelin TX15front/TX25rear). But hey, just thought I'd throw
that in.

<conspiracy theory mode>
I suspect the manufacturers are maybe modifying the tread
levels/compounds of modern tyres in order to make them last
an equal length of time.
<ctm>

YMMV, clearly. :-)

These are the 207RRs I'm on about, they are the sticky soft compound. I
suspect the standard 208 is a little harder in compound than a 207RR.

I use 208's which from memory are slightly softer and I get 4k on the rear
and 6k on the front (they're on my R1)

stab at 5k front and 4k rear.

Utter made up bollocks of course.

Um.. Prefer RRs both ends. I feel safer when I over do things. Found the
plain 207 s a bit slithery in rain too, not that the RRs really seem to like
the wet a lot, but mmmmm in the dry ...........
