Default Vehicle removal advice

I'd really appreciate some help here. Friend has a scrap car sitting in
the driveway. It is moveable but not legally driveable. Do local
Councils offer removal and scrapping services or must it be arranged
privately (and how/who). I'm assuming some cost implication either way.

Councils will remove vehicles, but seeing as it is on his driveway and
registered to him (I presume) they would like charge an exorbitant fee for
the privilige. Do no local Scrappies have a free uplift service? Failing
that, tow it. I've done this before. I've admittedly not been stopped by
the police while doing it but if you were I think most (not all) coppers
would give a fair hearing when you just want to get rid.

*Some* councils (New Forest) will take a scrap car away for nothing.
He should probably contact his local council and ask. They may have a
similar scheme as it prevents the dumping (and, often, torching) of
scrap cars which the council then has to remove at its own expense.

I once saw an Escort van towing a Volvo 740 estate on a full size car
trailer... just heading over the crown of the Dartford bridge towards the
toll booths.

I made sure I headed for a different queue.
