Bike hasn't run in a year. Before I started I checked the oil level and
it was low, so I filled it to the mark, started bike and ran it for 5 mins. Then it started leaking oil out of the filler cap of the oil tank. I thought maybe the oil tank filter was clogged, so I drained the oil tank, cleaned the filter, and filled the tank with fresh oil. Started bike up, and ran it for 10 mins...and it started to overflow through the cap again. Any ideas?? |

I would take the filter off the bottom of the centre crankcase, and make sure there is not an excessive amount of oil in the cases. If there is then this will cause you problem you are having, and it may well be ok after you drain the excess oil, clean the filter screen, put it back together and try again. k |

I answered the OP yesterday..............the plunger type pumps fitted to Triiumph twins are generally pretty trouble free, but I would agree that the gear pumps on the triples leave a lot to desired, and must be replaced when motors are rebuilt to ensure good oil pressure.....................and of course prevent centre rod bearing failure, and major engine damage. k |

LP Williams do a replacement anti-drain valve that fits easily and sorts the problem once and for all. -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
