Default Triumph Thunderbird T6 '61

I've just become a proud owner after seeing my first about 40 years ago!

Are there any kindred owners/enthusiasts out there I could share hint, tips
and problems with?

Not an owner but a good friend has a '66 T6 that he built himself over
a period of years.

He also spent something like 20 years in the TOC , before he got fed
up with all the politics.

If you have any queries, post away.

And before you ask - He will not use the internet, believe me I've
tried..

This is not a place to post Binaries ( Files as attachments)

They need to be "on" a Web site and the best thing to do is post the
URL: - Website "address"

The Iron head, single carb (cooking) model was the 6T Thunderbird, in this
country anyway..
Never heard of a T6.
They were a great ol sidecar bike.. in fact I bought one once for £25..

IIRC.

The plod used heavily laden 750 Saints round here. Easily outrun by YDS7s
and GT250s[1] from what my sisters tell me.

[1] That's what my sisters rode back then. Now you know where I got the

Very nice bike Roger.

BTW the other bit of protocol is to post with your new text below that
of the previosu post, leaving relevant text and snipping irrelevant.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the kind words.

With a bit of luck I've managed to unravel some more Microsoft voodoo and
get my text insertion point to automatically appear after, rather than
before the item I'm replying to.

IT was, and was not a souped up motor at all dispute what some people
supposed at the time,
it had low compression pistons soft cams and a single carb.
Which actually made the 30 yearold design quite reliable and a pleasant
bike to ride.
So no real wonder that any 250cc + modern japer could see it off, if you
were caught by one
It could only mean Plod was a bigger and better loony than you :-))

More pics will be available soon. I'm going to take her to some
appropriate/period locations and do some proper shots with all the pukka
snapping equipment. (For 20 years of a previous incarnation I was an
advertising photographer, so it's a habit I can't kick) I'll post the web

Nice. Personally I'd be shot of the pedestrian cutter front plate,
even though it's allowable for the age of the bike.

I know what you mean and deliberated a lot. Having the nacelle headlight
though, it looked somehow odd without the cutter. It was only when the
number plate characters were actually put in place, after this picture was
taken, that the cutter looked comfortable and less of a blob.
