Default TOG, Wegg, etc etc and bike repairs!

Posters such as these seem to be able to grasp how to sign cheques to
pay those enlisted to work on their various bikes, but dont really seem
to have much of clue if they have to get their own hands dirty (TOG
suggests cam chain must be split to remove cam from XS650, and Wegg
asserts that original Truimph Daytona had single carb
fitted..........lol).

Just ignore him, he's just trying to wind people up as he's finally
realised he's dead meat. For reference, Ken showed his ignorance of
classic bikes by stating that all T100s were single carb. Which shows
him for what he is, a clueless troll. Ignore and move on like everyone
else has.

Indeed. I'm now on;y seeing the replies to his nonsense. So, to turn
this thread into something useful, I've just been out for a ride on one
of my several Classic bikes, and I enjoyed it very much. Then had to do
a bit of winter servicing on the DR-Z as the poor old thing gets ridden
daily through the winter and it doesn't take long for the weather to get
a hold of it. Thought it seemed a bit sluggish the last couple of days
and it transpired that the rear brake was seized on. I almost never use
it so it does tend to get a bit neglected. Anyhoo I've stripped it
down, pumped out the piston, cleaned it all back up and everything is
rosy in the DR-Z garden again.

I'd love to ay that I had been out for a ride on one of my Classic bikes
today but I am not sure you would agree that the GS500 is even old
enough to be considered is a classic (although it will be one day) and I
haven't been out yet today either but I will tomorrow.

I started my Bloo GS today and ran it for a bit while I made a cup of
tea, just to scatter the more mobile wildlife that have made it their
home really.

Mine sort of started and sat there chugging more or less happily to
itself for a minute or two so I turned it off and walked away. Quit
when you are ahead, a good motto that one.

Only 7k new, with all the luggage and everything.....

3k offer on the Trophy. Bloody tempting.

Hmmm. I'm going to need a new commuter in a year or so. Plan was to
keep the DR-Z and put it back to dirt bike configuration and I was
thinking of maybe an XR600 moto for the daily hack. But a BigTig could
be a laugh...

and then I thought....

It goes against everything that I stand for to run a bike engine and not
have the wheels turn, so I was forced to take it shopping.

Amazing innit, it is over 50 miles going to Tescos but less than coming
10 back. I can't work it out, it should have been nearer 80.

I opened the garage and had a smoke while pondering how lucky I was to
own two lovely driveway ornaments. Then I looked at the sky and thought
that it might rain next week, so I threw all thoughts of viewing them in
the sunshine on the driveway out of my head. I then got in my car and
went to see my mum and regaled her with stories about how wonderful it
is to be a biker.

I went all the way from Bedford to Newcastle just for a shag, on a
number of occasions.

When I was 15 I rode my bicyle from Bedford to Leicester for a shag with
my then girlfriend, who'd moved from our village to up there. I got to
her house and almost instantly fell asleep until her parents came home
about 15 hours later. I woke up and realised it was time to start
heading home again, so jumped on my bike and left.

Amongst the carboys and demijohns I've a net of onions hanging up (er,
they're hanging down, is this right?) from the ridge in the shed - the
shed lined-up for the bike stable - and yesterday, while groping for a
handful of onions, I dropped a couple. <Oops! Pardon>

It occurred to me that as the onions which fell on the floor were a) out
of sight; b) unreachable; c) behind a pile of ply, a sack-barrow, garden
tools, polythene sheet, etc., perhaps I ought to get down to clearing a
space - after all, there will be a sidecar on the side of the machine
innit.

Watch this space.
