Well, if the chrome on this one is as good as it looks on the pics then
I'd say you can always break it and flog the chrome bits to some
unsuspecting Englishmen...

Yuck. Look at those horrible bars. And I think it may have been badly
resprayed, too. Hard to tell from the crap pictures.

Didn't the US spec bikes come equipped with those sort of bars?
Agree about the probable respray, and you'll get no argument from
me that Craigslist's free pics aren't of much use.

I was just wondering if it sensible to make a lowball offer for
it and break it for spares.

Yes, they did, though I think the very early ones might have been flats.
When it didn't appeal to the Yanks because of the cafe racer riding
position (which is nigh-on *perfect*, by the way) they moved the
footpegs forward and fitted cowhorn bars.

<Shakes head>

I dunno....

Depends on the market for 400 Four parts in the US. Here, they're in
massive demand, still, and the one I'm currently breaking is melting
before my eyes as bits go from it. The front brake caliper alone made
nearly £80 on Sunday's auction.
