and just what is wrong with painting a bike in Hammerite? It is
certainly appropriate for the bike, where powder coating et al isn't.

Speaking of Hammerite, does it have a shelf life? I have just
discovered a tin in the shed and it seems a shame to just throw it away.

It seems to last for ever but the flavour goes. Best to mix it with gin.
