I had an earlier non abs one for 6 years. Great bike.

Things to look out for:-

Rattle coming from the left hand side of the engine - some rattle on idle is
fine, rattle under throttle is not . . . . .

1st to 2nd gear change jumping out of gear under load - although the later
ones have a better gearbox I believe.

Weeping clutch master cylinder (in front of drive sprocket cover). Cheap to
fix but a complate bar steward to bleed.

Squeaking rear suspension heralds a potential linkage strip down and bush
replacement.

The exhausts have already been replaced with the usual choice of motads -
although I got through a few sets of those, check the collector box.

Other than that it's just the usual bits and pieces/consumables, which can
be bought very reasonably from the owners club. SWMBO found the FJ
comfortable, and if you can just load it up with luggage and you'll not
notice a thing.

Many thanks to you Buzby,

Useful food for thought. Might just take a flyer.

Cheers,
Pete
