I am looking to get a newbike. mmmf mmmfmf mmfff mmmfffff... >I have not rode for some time and I am looking for a cheap bike, up to £2k. >I dont mind an older bike, just want something reliable. Insurance is not an >issue either. I was thinking of an early GSXR or FZR 1000 EXUP. with up to 2K, you ought to get summat reasonable. as a nice all-rounder, you can do a lot worse than the VFR750F, - a mate of mine has one, it's comfy, fast (enough - about 140 indicated, given enough road and absence of dibbles), reliable, decent enough weather protection etc. Should pick an arf-decent one for 2K. No direct experience of much else in that sort of size, but I gather the RF900 was reckoned to be a very decent, under-rated bike. Always rather fancied a Yam XJ900 (pre-diversion), although I saw a 900 divvie a bit back and that looked quite nice, too. Mind, I reckon it's boring, but then mine takes a bit more rider input to go fast. >I am a little on the "large side", 6 foot 1 and rather too heavy as well, >I'm afraid, I am reasonably fit and agile, just got a badly smashed up wrist >and collar from years ago. ditto, and I find the above-mentioned viffer comfy. > >I will use it for work, about 5 miles each way, come rain or shine, and for >the odd weekend ride for fun. > >Which of the 2 is best, or can you think of something better? > >thanks for your advice in advance... >Alan >PS any good bike dealers in the midlands?
