And the overhead version (Valiant IIRC) was rated at 12HP, the LE was
designed as an "Every Man's" motor cycle, that accounts for the hand
start and hand gear change, both down to people complaining there shoes
were ruined. One thing Velocette considered but never put into
production was a Viceroy engine in a Valiant frame. Shame that, given
the success of the Aerial Arrow it could have been a big seller,
especially in the US market.
