Hi all
I'm new to this group and in fact new to two wheeled transportation! I have just acquired a 1966 Raleigh Runabout moped and am due to sit my CBT in a couple of weeks to validate the moped entitlement on my car license. The moped is pretty much all there, but needs quite a bit of TLC to get it road worthy again. I was just wondering if anyone can shed any light on the requirements for this bike when it comes to MOT time? Obviously it's a glorified push bike with a small engine. It never had indicator lights, or dippable headlights or anything like that. Am I right in thinking that it will only require what it originally had to pass the MOT? It also doesn't have a horn now, although I think it did originally. How would I go about fitting one of these please? I hope someone can point me in the right direction! Thanks, Graham |

Yes, basically. > It also doesn't have a horn now, > although I think it did originally. So buy a cheap 6v horn and wire it in or gaffa-tape a compressed air siren to the bars. Seriously. |

If you intend to fit an original type horn it will have to be an AC type most communally available ones are likely to be DC. Thanks to all for your help. The web link regarding MOT seems to cover
most of it. All the best. Graham |

As an aside: the other day we discussed frame/VIN numbers and I said it was permissible not to have one - apparently the rules have changed and it's now a requirement. Fortunately for me my friendly MOT man took it off the log book. -- Simon |
