Just been searching the archive of this group for a recommended black touch
up paint (or otherwise) to touch up the handle bars of my CBR600F where the previous owner must of had a key dangling from the bike key. But I couldn't find any suggestions, apart from TOG's Top Tip [1] but I want something more permanent than that! Any ideas? Also whilst we're at it, one edge of the swing arm has had it's surface flaked off and is beginning to turn brown with rust. Any ideas for this? Ta. [1] "Top tip - black indelible marker to touch in frame paint. Doesn't leave a blob like touch-up paint, is as near as all hell totally undetectable, and wears off in three weeks, but so what?" -- |

If you use Smoothrite, which is a smooth finish version of the original "hammered finish" (imagine loads of tiny dents in the paint, looking as if it had been tapped many times with a hammer) the it will look OK. I suggested it because Hammerite products are designed to go over rusty surfaces without the need for a primer and they will then suppress the rust. It won't look as good as the original (unless you take the swingarm off the bike and spray it on), but much better than a rusty swingarm. -- Pip, Ex - Hairy Gfedcker. RF 900RR, Ruff and Rattly.
