I have just bought a CBR400rr 1989 and a few days later it would not
start... I bought a new battery as the one already on there was 3 years old... I put the new one on and now all I get is a loud clicking from under the seat. Can anyone help me... Is it a relay or a fuse problem. Thanks |

For example, do the headlamps work, instrument lights (ie neutral, side stand lights, etc) come on? If so, my handyman might have some more suggestions for you. Is it a relay or a fuse > problem. Thanks First off, I'll admit I don't have any specific experience with the CBR400, but generally speaking... If you've got a fully charged battery on there, I'd guess it's your starter solonoid playing up. Take the seat off, and locate the component that's clicking. (The starter solenoid is usually the 1st thing you come to if you follow the positive connection from the battery. It's mostly metal, with 1 plastic end. Approx 40mm diameter x 50mm long, has 2 main connections on the plastic end (covered by a rubber cap), and a fusewire somewhere.) If it _is_ the solenoid clicking, make sure the bike is in neutral, sidestand up etc. and then short across the 2 main connections on the solenoid with a large screwdriver. This should turn the starter motor over. If the starter turns, the solenoid is your problem and needs cleaning/fettling/replacing depending on your preference.
