Hi all, I was thinking of buying an older offroader (Pre 1974) in the USA
and shipping back to Europe (Norway). I am a british expat living up here now and importing an older bike is much cheaper due to customs and excise restrictions. Has anyone any advice, horror stories, etc regarding shipping a bike over. The bikes there just seem less rusty, cheaper and theres more of them for sale. Regards Alan |

Hi DNC, If the bikes more than 30 years old there is no import duty or VAT
applicable here, just a one off registration fee. But if its younger than that, the charges are astronomical. I hoped to get the bike loaded onto an already partly filled container but it might be more problematic than I thought. There must be some dealers specialising in export to Europe with expertise in form filling, customs clearance, crating etc.....well at least I hope there is. Thanks for your input.
