Well, it's been bloody useless so far. The sun hasn't come out. The
business task I'm working on remains intractable, and even the change of PM
hasn't prompted the other side to respond to an email which needs detailed
answers. My shirts have picked up some muck in the washing-machine, and
I'll have to run them through again on the 'intensive stains' programme. My
son's cricket-match has been cancelled, and he was really looking forward to
that. Other son's gecko's started looking a bit peaky. Global warming
hasn't been reversed. They *still* haven't cracked cold fusion. Traffic's
driving too fast through the village, even though there's a coach parked up
nearby. It's all the fault of that miserable bastard Brown. Who else is
there to blame?

Top story on BBC News web front page: Gordon Brown warns of "serious
and continuous threat" that Britain faces.

Click on story: Car bomb found in central London

Errr... I sort of thought the headline ought to be "car bomb found in

a thrill a minute. Nice to see that Gordon has managed not to utter a
single word about all of this. He is running the country isn't he?
Does he have a view or an opinion he might like to share with the rest
of us about what is going on?

I think we'll be very lucky to get through the next 2 weeks without
something major going off - there's simply too many high profile events
for the terrorists not to succeed at one of them.

I was once following somebody and saw flames coming from underneath his
car (shabby banger really). Managed to pull him over and it transpired
it was his exhaust repair had caught fire - the silly bastard had used
roofing felt! Which was well alight by now.
There was a can of Coke or something in my car and I put the fire out
with it, after giving the can a good shake. Bloody difficult underneath
the car but it did the trick, just.

That was what I was thinking when I heard about the car bomb in
London. If we do escape without a major incident I don't think it'll
be thanks to the government or the security services.

What do you expect him to say? It might be a conscious decision.
Blair was all to eager to grab the microphone when something, anything
happened; perhaps Brown wants to just let the appropriate people get
on with their jobs, without the PM hogging the headlines? Seems
reasonable to me.
