At last!
Couple of court hearings, one to settle liability once and for all, and they're 100% guilty, and another to set umpteen dates for exchanging papers, witness statements, professional opinions, blablablas. Looks like it'll all be settled by June 2005, 4 years after accident. Had 3rd interim payment a few weeks ago, enough to keep me going for a year or so if I can't find work. Nice. Meanwhile I'm still sane & updating me skill set at home. And bored. Veeery bored. Even Big Brother is interesting. Still, the AT is there, dusty & black & waiting. Started it up last week, must be 10 month since I last looked at it, and it went no problem after a little cranking :-) Nicely suprised. <waits...> frag |

Especially since the other side have changed their mind a few times, refused to admit liability and guarantee they won't change their minds again. > Ahh, good. Seems to imply the final settlement will be reasonably > large, then? Well I've just about got all the lost pay now, the rest of it is payments for physicological damages, permanent damages (scars, arthritis, damaged knee, wrist, loss of bend in knee) - why it'll be 2005. Got to go through physio and after that see how unstable knee is with both major ligaments still torn. Might need another few ops to fix them. Might need an op in future to do something to wrist. > Talking of which, what's the latest on the ol injury front? Last I > recall you were still having one leg stretched in a thingy-frame. Or > am I hopelessly out of touch? Finished stretching now, just taking lots of calcium and waiting for new bone to thicken and strengthen. Hopefully I'll get the frame off in about 2 months. then plaster for a few weeks, then as far as the femur goes thats it. The original break is now more or less healed, which is a real relief! Still got torn ligaments inside knee, and damaged patella and top of tib/fib damaged. And wrist still damaged. How much the final settlement fugure will be? Don't know at the mo, figures have been mentioned but I can't repeat them in a public forum ![]() > ><waits...> > > For how much longer? Depends on what further needs to be done. You can't be sure your injuries will get better, sometimes they don't and sometimes they give rise to different pains. A simple word from the judge (so I hear) regarding future ailments, is enough to re-open the case and claim relevant damages, despite what the insurers say about full and final settlement. That might be true, and good, if the case has been settled and closed. Daft bloody solicitors to let it get to that state though before knowing properly the medical ramifications. Why my case won't be settled for another year-ish, to give at least 6 months after final op to final medical report, which will include all things that aren't going to get any better. frag |
