Default Biker down but not out

For "moped rider" values of biker, that is.

Cub#1 and her DNA departed from the vertical, assisted by a cager who
apparently pulled out from a line of stationary traffic. The bike is
currently unridable, but at least the Cub herself is uninjured apart
from a sore ankle. (She got taken to hospital to get it X-rayed -
apparently nothing broken).

To her credit, she managed to get all the requisite details (insco
etc) from the driver, *and* managed to get names and addresses of a
number of people in the line of traffic. On the down side, it's going
to be a tough call to say who was to blame, so I'm expecting it to go
50-50.

What a traumatic experience for the poor child, she is in obvious need
of hugs and kisses and stuff to help her get over the trauma. Allow me
to volunteer

Good girl.

It depends on how good your overpaid, overweight, work shy, legal eagle
is at twisting the truth compared to hers. Be careful how the tale is
told and dispute the bill.

Get a proper insurance quote for the bike: IIRC bits ain't cheap, and you
have to buy whole assemblies.

Glad she's okay, pass on GWS etc.

Bloody kids, never a moment's peace.

I passed on your good wishes, and she replied "Please thank that
Auvache bloke for his kind and considerate offer, then pass on a
FOYRNPerv from me."

Update: she rang her insco, and from the verbal conversation, the
woman at the other end said that we have a *very* strong case, so
they'll almost certainly be looking for full recovery.

This same woman then started listing everything that would be added to
the claim against the cager, including clothing and helmet (natch),
proper repairs to the bike, hire bike for the interim, loss of
earnings while the ankle is mending, and £600 for a summer school
event at a dance school that she had booked but might no longer be
able to do.

<watches price of renewal rise by another 10p>

Course I'll probably toss mine down the road next weekend :-)

Near enough though, innit.

TF it was a minor. She can learn from this without too much pain.
Bikes fix, too - and she'll heal for free. GWS to her, eh?

She's a good girl and obviously very level-headed in a crisis. You
can be proud of her, Rick.

Yebbut don't mutely accept that. I see from your later post that
CubInsCo sounds positive so let's hope they can sort it out swiftly
and to Cub's advantage.

All the best, mate.

Pervert indeed. I am wounded and deeply, deeply hurt. You tell her
from me I am nothing like her father.

If ever you needed an example of the differences between the operation
of the brotherhood of man and The Sisterhood this would serve as good as
any.

Ouch. well, nothing sharpens your road sense than a crunch that you walk
away from.

Good girl! I'm impressed, honestly.

If she was that bright and got witnesses, I think you're being
pessimistic.
