Default Bike toolkit checklist

Trying to put together a small toolkit to carry around with the bike.

So far I have come up with

2 x small adjustable spanners
Small Socket set - the type that uses a screwdriver
Allen keys
Pliers/Cutters
Zip ties
Insulating tape
Screwdriver driver bits
One of those plug & glue pucture kit
Superglue.
Spare bulbs
Length of plastic tube (if i need to syphon petrol)

Aonyone else think of anythin I have missed off (like AA membership?)

Cheers

Something to kill your riding mate, just in case he starts smoking when
you're syphoning petrol for his bike by blow-jobbing your own bike.

All you need is a credit card or breakdown cover.

Most people don't have that many tools in their garage, never mind on
their bike. Just carry a puncture repair kit & breakdown cover (& a
spare plug/spanner if it's a 2-smoke).

Why two, when surely one will do?

>Small Socket set - the type that uses a screwdriver

Pointless - you'll never get enough torque on a fastener with only the
screwdriver handle. I travel with a 1/4" drive socket set, with a
ratchet and tommy bar, augmented with a bit holder and set of bits and
a set of (allen key replacement) hex drivers.

The most common task is to adjust the chain, if you're going to be
away from home for a while. You'll need the standard toolkit (or
better quality replacements) for that.

Roll of tank/duct/gaffer tape for sticking fairings back together.

Dont know if i agree with that, i have waited for the AA to turn up as
I had a pucture, then when they turned up been told
they only carry tubleless repair kits and then had to wait for
another flatbed to turn up to load the bike onto.

This was on a 125 that I could have put in a black cab and got home!
[1]

[1] Seriously, when I moved house I took off the mirrors, loosened off
the handle bars and took of the side covers and put
the bike into the back of a citroen AX as by this time I had a full
license and another bike.

3 hours wasted when I could have fixed the puncture by the road in a
fraction of that time.

Not if it's an indicator lens or seat cover - best take a vacuum
forming machine & Singer to be on the safe side. Oh, & a rubber tree in
case you need to make a new tyre.

Because your employer might check the web logs, & sack you for being a
druggie, & not give you a reference so you can't get another job, so
you'll lose your house, & your wife will leave you, & your children
will be taken into care, & you'll live the rest of your sad & lonely
life on the streets, which won't be for long because you'll die of
pneumonia?

Mostly it's all been said, but FWIW I would usually carry the
following (plus the standard toolkit, of course) when 'on-tour':

Decent chain adjustment tool (if required, like on the single-sided
swingarm Sprint ST).
Can of lube spray (no chain lube, unless planning on several thousand
miles in poor weather).
Clean rag.
Decent Allen keys (I use a fold-away cycle tool).
Breakdown recovery membership card.
Mobile phone (& charger)
Credit card.
