No ride in the sun for me tonight, bloody T/Ace has a split in the front

Bloody dealers cut my old chain off, before realising that the intended replacement was too short. So I'm probably without a bike all weekend. :-( -- Simon - verdant lineone ne t Triumph Tiger. Do you mean the rubber valve body, or the actual bit that screws inside (and which you would obviously just pinch from another bike)? -- Champ GSX-R 1000, GPz 750 turbo, ZX7RR Endurance Racer x 2 GYASB#0 BotToS#2 BOTAFO(T|F)#35 WG*#1 DFV#8 Team UKRM Racing : www.team-ukrm.com |

It looked like it had been cut by something, or bent over at such an angle that the rubber split. I took it into Flitwick M/cs, who fitted a new valve and balanced it for 8 quid. They said the valve split right through when they attempted to remove it, so it's as well I spotted it. I hate to think what could have happened on Wednesday night, when I took my ex on the back at 150 down the local bypass. This is one of the reasons why I like to keep my bike clean, I see things like this when I'm going over it with a sponge and cloths. -- Lozzo : The Speedyspic YZF1000R (Big boy's Power-Valve) BOTAFOT#57/70a, BOTAFOF#57, MIB#22, TCP#7, ANORAK#9, DIAABTCOD#14, UKRMT5BB, IBW#013, MIRTTH#15a/16, BotToS#8, GP#2, SBS#10, SH#3, DFV#14, BONY#9. Mind you, I had a valve come loose, with totally and immediate loss of rear tyre pressure, as I tipped into the esses at Mallory on a practise day in 1989. Just got a bit of a slide, but the bike was amazingly well behaved, considering. Modern tubeless tyres are very good at not coming off the rim. >This is one of the reasons why I like to keep my bike clean, I see >things like this when I'm going over it with a sponge and cloths. I remember a traffic cop who said as much - if it hasn't been cleaned, then it hasn't been looked at, and it's more likely to have dangerous faults. Which is why dirty bikes are more likely to get pulled over. -- Trophy 1200 750SS CB400F CD200 ST70 YTC#3 GAGARPHOF#30 GHPOTHUF#1 IHABWTJ#1 BOTAFOT#60 ANORAK#06 BOF#30 WUSS#5 http://www.chateau.murray.dsl.pipex.com/ |

I'm not so sure. At speed tubeless tyres keep their profile pretty well.
