Hi,
I am a new learner and have booked my CBT. I want to practice for a couple of weeks between gaining the CBT and taking the DAS course to increase my chances of success. I thought that I would hire a 125cc bike for a couple of weeks before committing to buy any particular model. I am based in Barnet I have looked online for bike hire shops in London. I have also searched this newsgroup. I have found bike hire in Acton, Wandsworth and Catford - all of which are an inconvenient public transport journey for me. Does anyone know of a bike hire shop accessible from a Northern Line Station, a Picadilly Line station or a station on the line that runs between New Barnet, Finsbury Park to Kings Cross? Also, under what circumstances can I ride a restricted power 500cc motorbike rather than a 125? Thanks Clive |

Have you tried First Line Motorcycles at Arnos Grove - a few mins walk from the tube station or New Southgate on the main line? http://www.1stlinemotorcycles.co.uk/index.htm I passed with this lot http://www.csmt.co.uk/ who are in Edmonton on the A10. Not sure if they just do hire but might be worth a call. You can take the 34 bus from Arnos Grove tube to their front door or just take the bus directly if you walk up to the main road at Barnet. -- Paul C - "the big camp bastard" (tm d.a.r.s.y) VFR800 | ZX6R | R1150GS BOD#5, two#4, BOTAFOT#23, BOTAFOF#4, URMSBC#09, COFF#09 Admits to working for London Underground! |

And then it doesn't have to be a restricted 500. He can ride a restricted (to 33bhp) 500 after passing his test on a 125 IIRC. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19 |
