Oh.

Well, I still wanted to go in one more than I wanted to go in a
standard Merc C-class saloon.

Sort of. But you can get them with proper 'merkin V8 motors, which has
to be a good thing. Anyway, I much prefer the Dodge-branded 'Magnum'
version.

A Caterham 7 is not a pretty car, but it is a good car.

That's the whole point of crumple zones, ffs.

Well the equivalent of a decoke, the manifold gets blocked up with
diesel soot and robs the engine of performance and makes the engine
warning light come on and off intermittently.

Ahhh, clogged up EGR system. Not quite the same thing.

10 years ago, I suppose Fury would have recommended the Rover 100 as a
runabout, 'cos the driving schools used 'em.....

I repaired an '02 Focus for someone who hit the rear "run under bar" of an
articulated lorry at about 30 mph. When the Focus was put on the jig (to
check) it was fine (needed no pulling), all the geometry was perfect. All it
needed was a bonnet, bonnet hinges, one airbag, grille, two front wings, two
headlights, a bumper, radiator and windscreen.

I don't know any mechanics who'd choose a Golf over a Focus, and that
includes the VW technicians I know. They drive Focuses.
