Maybe he only receives calls with it. When I worked in server rooms where there was virtually unchecked use of the phone, my mobile came out of my pocket either to receive a call, or else to dig out someone's phone number from the 'contacts' list. I got through about nine euro in a month, and that was mainly sending text messages. D. -- des | 'trop d'la balle, j'kiffe grave!' BMW K100-LT |

It took me over a year to use the original £5 credit. Last August was a particularly busy month when I sent several texts as well as making phone calls. The bill was almost a pound. According to the call log, the last call I made was 16 July when I called a mate from the cinema to see if she wanted to see Harry Potter. The last before that was 5th May and the before that was a test call to the house phone on 11 March and then a call to BT when the landline was out of action. Those are apparently the only personal mobile calls I've made this year. Now that two of my more problematic apprentices are no more, I won't even be making as many work calls as before. -- Fenny Willow: I feel like a witch in a magic shop. |

If I don't answer the original call but I want to speak to them I call them back, lack of voice mail doesn't mean not knowing who's called you. If they get desparate and call again before I've phoned them back, I will guage from the who's calling whether I really want to answer or not... |

Maybe that doesn't matter to them if they only want to talk to the people who are important to them. I don't use voicemail, but my phone does tell me if someone's called while the phone was switched off and if it's one of the many numbers in my address book, the phone will tell me who called and *I* can then call *them*. If it's not one of those, the odds are it's someone I don't want to speak to trying to sell me something I don't want. -- e-mail me at geraldine(underlined space)ms(littlesnailything) bigfoot dot com only without the spaces |
