Will Dockery is a drunken cretin strutting around a village somewhere in
the deep south. I've read his 'work' and it's laughable. Why does he attract a little crowd of followers who gather around him like gnats and spam unrelated groups? Just curious. |

People from a small town, in the deep South, know they probably will never be able to get away from there. So, instead of trying to get out of that small town, they welcome anything that makes them think they're living in a big city. Some people will do whatever they have to, to feel like they are a part of a culture other than their own. |

Uhuh. So in Georgia, "screen" and "scream" are homophones? So it would be correct to say that you spend your day staring at a scream? Or that when you appear on stage, your fans all screen? > > Or "abyss" with "mist"? Or "queer" with either > > "anger" or "mirror"? Remember, in decima the rhymes have to be / > > exact/. > > Okay, but I don't see in the definition I used that the rhymes had to > be /exact/. There are degrees of adherence to any given form, and a certain amount of leeway to experiment is usually built in. For example, you could argue that a "proper" decima must have eight syllables per line, plus or minus one or two according to the placing of the final stress and the rules of "sinalefa" which govern all formal poetry in Spanish (where the form comes from). Using iambic tetrameter, e.g., is already a departure from the norm. But departing from exact rhyme in what is primarily an improvisational form undermines the form itself, as it would in, say, a limerick, or in rap music. Since there is usually no pretension to High Art, the decimist, like the rapper, has to show he can at least knock off perfect rhymes at (sometimes literally) the drop of a hat. Otherwise what are we supposed to enjoy? > > > Since these are not, clearly you haven't written a decima.
