Veterans/Memorial Day Poem, #219

I WANT TO GO HOME: In memory of MIAs

The morning calm flowed gently through the hills
Bugles went silent after the night s kill
The night before the bugles had blared
With the morning calm I was still there

Snow and cold now ripped through the hills
A new time, a new enemy, a new kind of kill
Again the enemy bugles tried to even the score
Wind, snow and cold would be more to endure

We the souls of the dead were left to roam
Family and friends left to eternally moan
Minds and souls will never heal
If our souls are forgotten in faraway fields
Mom I want to go home

Written from the Heart by Donald Gill
