Default RIP Cornelia

I'm sorry to have to announce the sudden death of Cornelia, the oldest
of my corn snakes at about 11-12 years. The vet thinks that the cause of
death was kidney failure, with the hot weather probably a contributing
factor. She's survived by Sam, her mate, and Murphy, their daughter.

Cornelia was bred by the late Dave Lester. Unfortunately she was
initially sold to a student who was unable to care for her properly, and
subsequently adopted by Ray Miller, who eventually sold her to me in
1997. She'll be missed.

Condolences Marcus.

You must have had a premonition some months ago, when you said
that you wouldn't be raising any more hatchlings?

I'm sure she will.

Oh Marcus, I'm so sorry. I know how fond you were of Cornelia. She had
a pretty good innings with loads of hatchlings to prove it (all probably
grown ups by now) and all thanks to your good care.

Not exactly; last year was a bit of a nightmare (one clutch laid outside
the damp box and dried out before I saw them, the other lot had four or
five that just wouldn't eat despite all attempts to encourage them), and
I decided that I just wasn't enjoying the challenge of rearing them any
more. There are plenty of others breeding corn snakes, so I don't think
my efforts are really needed any more.

Having said that, I might give it a try again in a year or two when Cobb
and Murphy (my other pair) are a bit older, if I'm feeling more
enthusiastic.

Hi Marcus,
I'm sorry to hear about Cornelia. She has a sweet face in the
