Default Grass in GPs eye

Hi ,
I took Ginger to the vet yesterday . Her eye had been a little weepy
the day before but yesterday it was bad .
The vet put dye in her eye but couldn't see any wounds or damage . He
couldn't see anything in the eye but I said that grass often works it
way so far down it can't be seen and ask him to examine it again . So
he manipulated the area around the eye and saw the end of a piece of
grass. It was half inch thin piece of grass and he was amazed. It just
goes to show how careful you have to be!

My butch black and white went for his routine health check and the vet
found a piece of grass stuck in his throat. Thank god for that as I'd
risk my fingers if I tried to open his jaws!

I've heard of grass seeds sprouting in the corner of the eye! So, yup,
you have to be careful - though difficult at this time of year in this
weather. Hope Ginger's recovering well.

Hi James ,
It's alarming how much damage a simple piece of grass can do .
Ginger has eye ointment I have to apply but, touch wood , the eye is
looking a lot better .
