This newsgroups FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is posted roughly once
a month, and goes out again with this blink. It contains the newsgroup's charter, information on quarantine and other issues of general interest to pet-owners in the UK, and contact details and URLs for various animal-related organisations and sites. I would greatly appreciate help on revising the sections on quarantine and the Balai directive in the FAQ, since they are well out of date and I'm not expert enough to revise them, or be sure that they can be deleted. The FAQ is currently around 900 lines and will probably get larger as more information is added, although I attempt to keep it as small as possible. If you don't want to read it, set your killfile to spot uk.rec.pets.misc FAQ in the subject of the message; that should stop the FAQ and any follow-up messages. Or kill on file size, nothing else remotely near this size should be posted here routinely. A separate message about the pilot scheme for taking pets to Europe from the UK is also posted monthly. I'm always grateful for comments on the contents of the FAQ, new addresses and URLs, etc. It isn't possible to go into much detail on any specific species in the FAQ; that's what web sites are for. If there are any other _general_ issues that might affect many UK pet owners I'd like to add them. -- Marcus L. Rowland "Boy... _These_ things are a cinch!" It's now a very long time since I've been able to revise the FAQ or quarantine information, and there's little or no chance I'll be able to do so in the foreseeable future. I'm just too busy with my own work, and don't have the contacts needed to update things. Is there anyone who would like to take this over, preferably someone who can sort things out? Basically, it needs to be reasonably accurate with regards to legal and medical issues such as quarantine, contain current links to relevant sites, and avoid political and species bias etc. -- Marcus L.
